Canada Day

It’s time to celebrate! The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum is highlighting Canada’s Birthday with lots of exciting activities for the whole family. There will be games, ice cream making and tasting as well a sample of poutine, a Canadian favourite. Our demonstrations offer visitors the chance to learn about Canadian agriculture and discover Canadian breeds of livestock. Admission is free Friday July 1st.


Ice Cream Making
10:00, 11:00, 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00 p.m.

Young and young-at-heart alike can help make ice cream using an old-fashioned hand-crank freezer. The best part? Everyone who helps can taste the end result!

The Great Canadian Quiz (ongoing activity)

Visitors can spin the wheel and test their knowledge of Canadian trivia.

Meet the Canadienne Cow (12:00 and 2:30)

The Canadienne cow is the only breed of dairy cow native to North America. Meet her and sample a little taste of delicious cheese made from this breed.

Rope Making (ongoing activity from 3:00 to 4:00)

Visitors will learn how to make rope using yarn and a rope maker.

Game - Canadian Agriculture: What’s growing Canada?
(ongoing activity)

Visitors are invited to place various “food props” on a map of Canada illustrating the major agricultural products produced in regions across the country.

Guess the Mystery Objects! (ongoing activity)

Visitors will be challenged to guess the mystery objects by touch alone.

Demonstration Kitchen:
Poutine! (ongoing activity)

There’s nothing more Canadian than poutine! Visitors are invited to the demonstration kitchen to sample this homegrown favourite. Interesting facts about this root vegetable and the Canadian potato industry will be shared.
